Florence Airport , otherwise known as Peretola Airport, is located 5Km north west of the historic city of Florence, 85km east of Pisa, in Tuscany. Florence Peretola airport is also known as Amerigo Vespucci airport, although the name does not appear to be in common use anymore.This airport underwent an expansion and improvement programme in 2006 to cater for an increased passenger throughput. Facilities include 3 cafes/restaurants, 11 shops, bank, and currency exchange. A bus service into and from the city runs approximately every half hour during the day, with a journey time of approximately 25minutes. From Florence about 2hours

Directions: Join the A1 autostrada (Milan Naples- strada di sole) at the Signa junction, keep your toll ticket safe and follow the A1 around Florence. Do not come off at "Frenze Sud", the A1 will take you towards Rome as a matter of course. Follow the A1 until you see the Junction for "FABRO". Exit and pay the toll, which varies depending on the day & time but is about usually 7 Euros. At the "T" junction turn left and pass the lorry park on the left by a huge hotel, take the next left marked "Chuisi. After 6KM att he X roads (there is an IP garage and resturant opposite) turn left. The road passes over the A1 and at the end of the bridge crash barrier turn right on to a "white" road. Do not stop at the first property continue up the road to the very top and our gates are on the right, accelerate and drive up to the house.

Trains From Florence:

The ticket office at Santa Maria Novina understand English and broken/mangled Italian so there should be no problems. Check the timetables or TV monitors on the platforms so you can easily see when your train will arrive and what platform it will arrive on. Florence to Chiusi-Chianciano Terme ( 9.20 Euro per person by regional train, 15.50 Euro per person by Intercity). At Florence you have the choice of the regional train, tickets valid for 6 weeks or the Intercity service. The Intercity guarantees your seat and carriage by number, but if you miss your train you need to purchase another ticket. The first stop for the Inter city is Arezzo then it is Chiusi-Chianciano Terme, there are usually announcements prior to the stops. Taking the regional train, select a central carriage so you can see the station names as there are no announcements, the station before Chiusi-Chianciano is Casteglione del Lago. Trains usually arrive with the platform on the left-hand side. You need to use the underpass, mid platform, to exit the station.

Total time 2 and a half hours to 3 hours 15 mins, including any waiting time.

From Chiusi Rail Station to us:

a) Collect your hire car from Hetz, just a minutes walk from the station,or take a taxi to Avis.

b) Take the road from Po' Bandino towards Ponticalli, A1 & Favro. At the large garage/ restaurant "Quo Vadis", direct the driver to the right over the A1 motorway bridge and right up the drive on the end of the bridge turn right on to the gravel road. Do not stop att he first property on the "white road" we are right at the very top of the hill on the right.

c) Ask the taxi driver if he will go to Ponticelli, as some only drive 1 km from the station. At the large garage/ restaurant "Quo Vadis", direct the driver to the right over the A1 motorway bridge and right up the drive on the end of the bridge. It usually costs about 15.00 Euros A local car hire firm can deliver a car to us if you prefer.
