From Pisa Airport by car: about 2 hours 30 mins
Exit the airport and head for Florence on the LiPiFi superstrada. Join the A1 autostrada (Milan Naples- strada di sole) at the Signa junction, keep your toll ticket safe and follow the A1 around Florence. Do not come off at "Frenze Sud", the A1 will take you towards Rome as a matter of course. Follow the A1 until you see the Junction for "FABRO"*. Exit and pay the toll, which varies depending on the day & time but is about usually 7 Euros. At the "T" junction turn left and pass the lorry park on the left by a huge hotel, take the next left marked "Chuisi. After 6KM att he X roads (there is an IP garage and resturant opposite) turn left. The road passes over the A1 and at the end of the bridge crash barrier turn right on to a "white" road. Do not stop at the first property continue up the road to the very top and our gates are on the right, accelerate and drive up to the house.
*Please note: That although the Chiusi exit is slightly near to us, you have to circumnavigate the outlying village and old town to access the road to us. The Fabro exit is very easy, more direct and only 10 mins more.
Trains From Pisa:
By train, buy your tickets at Pisa airport purchased at the counter in the arrivals hall to the left or Intercity trains can be booked on line with train Italia. The ticket office understand English and broken/mangled Italian so there should be no problem. If there is a delay eat lunch in the self service cafe upstairs, good food at reasonable prices and the restaurant next-door is excellent, if you have the time. Avoid the madness in the lower hall, the rolls are ok but remember to pay first then order at the counter.
All trains go to Florence, some via Lucca, the normal platform (Bin) is no 2, but check the timetables or TV monitors on the platforms so you can easily see when your train will arrive and what platform it will arrive on. You will be issued with tickets, to get from Pisa to a Florence station (5.20 Euro per person) then Florence to Chiusi-Chianciano Terme ( 9.20 Euro per person by regional train, 15.50 Euro per person by Intercity). The train platform at the airport is at the opposite end of the arrivals hall, just after the loos. At Florence you have the choice of the regional train or the Intercity service. The Intercity guarantees your seat and carriage by number, but if you miss your train you need to purchase another ticket. The first stop for the Inter city is Arezzo then it is Chiusi-Chianciano Terme, there are announcements prior to the stops. The regional train takes about 30 minutes longer but your ticket is valid for 8 weeks, so if you decide to have a look around Florence you can get a later or earlier train. Taking the regional train, select a central carriage so you can see the station names as there are no announcements, the station before Chiusi-Chianciano is Casteglione del Lago. Trains usually arrive with the platform on the left-hand side. You need to use the underpass, mid platform, to exit the station.
Total time 2 and a half hours to 3 hours 15 mins, including any waiting time.
